POSITION SUMMARY:
Current Opening: One Full-time position; 4 days/week, 2 ER – 12hr shifts and 2 Hospital – 8hr shifts
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the main hospital and ER registration departments. You will integrate the departments services with the hospitals’ primary functions. Review registration processes to streamline patient flow, improve department performance and patient satisfaction scores. Work closely with Clinic Registration Coordinator to implement standard training tools and provide continuing education of all registration staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and maintain the main hospital and ER staff schedules and on-call calendars to ensure adequate coverage.
- Model AIDET guidelines in all interactions with patient and visitors.
- Be available as main contact to ensure adequate staffing and resolve any issues that arise.
- Communicate with house supervisor to resolve any hospital or ER patient issues timely.
- Supervise the daily operations of the main hospital and ER registration areas.
- Ensure timely posting of OB and nursery level charges and yellow sticker charges.
- Evaluate and maintain the effectiveness of patient flow.
- Assist management to ensure all registration department policies and procedures are being adhered to.
- Onboard and train new and existing registration staff.
- Receives, places, and transfers calls using appropriate telephone etiquette: handles telephone information request with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality.
- Review the quality of patient registration information and on a daily basis document trends.
- Obtain any required insurance authorizations and update encounters prior to billing.
- Perform registration functions when needed to ensure wait times are kept to a minimum.
- Inform Director of Patient Financial Services of any significant issues in registration area (e.g., registration delays, system issues, extended wait times, etc.)
- Assist the PFS Director with interviewing applicants and staff evaluations/disciplinary actions
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or General education degree (GED) required.
- Previous work in the medical field is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge in accounting
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Skills in operation of typical office equipment such as PC’s, printers, terminals, calculator, FAX, copiers.
- Knowledge and experience in using, Windows Excel and Word as well as small business application, and Health Care systems Applications
- Must be able to communicate efficiently and professionally with patients
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly lift or move objects weighing 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
