J. Alex Sielatycki, MD

Dr. J. Alex Sielatycki is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon whose practice focuses on motion-preservation procedures for the neck and lumbar spine. With extensive training and experience, Dr. Sielatycki treats spinal conditions such as stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniations, radiculopathy, spinal deformity, disc degeneration, spinal fractures, and other painful spine disorders. He also has specialized expertise in cervical disc replacement and is deeply involved in advancing lumbar total joint replacement as an alternative to traditional lumbar fusion.

Drawn to the field by its complexity and the opportunity to improve patients’ lives, Dr. Sielatycki is passionate about innovation in spinal surgery. “My primary interest is in spinal motion preservation procedures, such as cervical disc replacement and lumbar joint replacement, to avoid fusions whenever possible,” he explains.

Dr. Sielatycki joined Steamboat Orthopaedic & Spine Institute (SOSI) in 2022. He remains committed to advancing his specialty through research, having authored numerous publications, presented at international conferences, and contributed to multiple textbook chapters on spine conditions. His dedication has earned him several research grants and multiple awards recognizing his academic and clinical achievements.

Dr. Sielatycki completed medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he trained with the late SOSI surgeon Dr. Clint Devin, whom he credits as a key mentor who inspired him to pursue spine surgery. He then completed an adult and pediatric comprehensive spine fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, studying under world-renowned experts in scoliosis, spinal deformity, cervical spine surgery, and degenerative spine conditions.

Dr. Sielatycki welcomes patients from across Colorado, Wyoming, and beyond. Outside of his practice, he enjoys skiing, biking, fishing, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Karen, have four children: Elizabeth, Anna, Caleb, and Josie.

Bryan Tipton, PA-C

Bryan Tipton is a board-certified physician assistant, with several years of practice in pain management and spine care. He obtained his master’s degree from the University of North Dakota and his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health promotion from the University of Wyoming. Bryan served 15 years in the United States Army, with 11 of those years as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant.
