Powell Valley Healthcare Receives Prestigious Baby-Friendly Re-Designation

Powell Valley Healthcare, Powell, Wyoming is proud to announce that it has maintained the highly prestigious international Baby-Friendly designation after a rigorous review process conducted by Baby-Friendly USA, the organization responsible for bestowing this certification in the United States.

This distinguished honor demonstrates that PVHC is adhering to the highest standards of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.

PVHC joins a growing list of more than 20,000 Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers throughout the world, 999 of which are in the United States. These facilities provide an environment that supports breastfeeding while respecting every woman’s right to make the best decision for herself and her family. PVHC remains the only hospital in the state of Wyoming to achieve and maintain this designation. PVHC was initially awarded this designation in 2010.

PVHC is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in northwest Wyoming. The OB Department of PVHC serves Powell and the surrounding communities in providing obstetrical care. Due to the dedication of our OB team which includes our highly trained nursing staff, 2 OB/GYN physicians, Dr. Clarkson and Dr. Lloyd, a Family Practice OB physician, Dr. Comer, and a Certified Nurse Midwife, Ashley Engesser, PVHC has demonstrated their commitment to delivering the highest quality of care for our women and infants.
