POSITION SUMMARY:
Current Opening: One full-time position; Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility on Fridays.
Responsible for scheduling, admitting and discharging patients according to established policies and procedures to ensure that information required to obtain payment is documented. Answers phones, directs calls, receives and delivers messages, and schedules appointments. Responsible for maintaining providers’ daily schedules. Assists with various tasks in electronic medical records system and provides excellence customer service. This position will float between the clinic and hospital registration areas as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews all required paperwork to determine accuracy and verification needs during the registration process.
- Register patients for necessary services by collecting demographic information and insurance information needed to properly bill.
- Collects payment needed according to insurance agreements.
- Verify insurance coverage through proper system verification.
- Must be able to communicate efficiently and professionally with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Schedule patients for appointments with providers.
- Answer, transfer, and direct incoming calls as necessary.
- Address voicemails and send appropriate messages to nursing staff.
- Scan required documents for financials and medical records.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or General education degree (GED) required.
- Previous work in the medical field is preferred, but not required.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person and on the phone with patients, families, and staff.
- Familiarity with registration applications for registration of patients and insurance verification.
- Ability to use common office equipment such as PC, scanner, and fax machine.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office, Word, and other applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly lift or move objects weighing 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
- The employee is also subject to exposure to blood and body fluids, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives, exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.
