Highest
Quality Care
Surgery patients
who choose Powell Valley Hospital experience quality,
compassionate care. Our operating room
is fully equipped to handle the
majority of surgical needs a person may experience in their lifetime.
Our Chief of Surgery, Dr. Nicholas Morris, is a highly skilled surgeon
with an extensive background in laparoscopic surgery techniques and an
unequalled education history. Dr. Morris completed his internship at
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH as well as being
instrumental in the development of a laparoscopic surgery program in New
Hampshire in 1990. He and his wife Madelyn completed a 6-week
surgical voyage with Project Hope, aboard the
USNS Mercy in August-Sept. 2006.
Dr. Jeff Hansen, orthopedic surgeon,
joined PVHC in May of 2006. He has over 27 years of
orthopedic surgery experience and specializes in surgery of the
hand, foot and ankle. Dr. Jay
Winzenried of Absoroka Orthopaedics conducts many orthopedic surgeries at PVHC as well.
Several surgeons are assisted by our highly skilled surgical team
of operating room nurses and C.R.N.A.’s (Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetists).
Laparoscopic Procedures
Surgeons and patients prefer the least invasive surgical
options. Laparoscopic surgery is often an option for
gallbladder, hernia, appendicitis and other cases.
Endoscopy
State of the art endoscopy equipment is used by physicians at
PVHC. Colonoscopy, Upper GI Endoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy procedures
are routinely performed to identify various medical conditions.
Orthopaedic
Including hand surgery, arthroscopies, orthopaedic trauma
surgery and total joint replacement.
Neurosurgery
Including lumbar laminectomies, kyphoplasty, anterior cervical
laminectomies, cervical & lumbar spinal fusions. Dr.
John Schneider joined our Active Medical Staff in May of 2007.
He has been performing neurosurgery and spine surgery at Powell
Valley Hospital for over a year and a half.
Pain Management
Powell Valley Hospital is one of only a few hospitals in
Wyoming that routinely utilizes epidural blocks or intrathecal
narcotics for pain control during labor. Epidurals, which
have many advantages over I.V. narcotics, are often used following
abdominal and other types of surgery for effective pain relief.
They also help with pain caused by shingles, chronic rib, back and
sciatic nerve pain.
Added
Convenience
Our Surgi-Center offers patients added convenience and quicker
recovery from outpatient surgery. Patients having outpatient
surgical procedures enjoy the comfort of our homelike environment
& compassionate care.
