Diagnostic imaging helps physicians diagnose patient conditions.
Our imaging modalities allow a variety of ways to look at and into
the human body in order to diagnose conditions to the best of our
ability. We employ trained professionals and use state of the art
equipment. Our in-house radiologist, Dr.
Lawrence Dirksen, along with our certified, trained
professionals, provide exceptional service to patients.
How Images Are
Made:
-
X-Ray ~ Discovered by
Wilhelm Konrad Roentgen in 1895, the ray had the ability to penetrate
tissues and as the rays emerged on the far side of the body they were
captured on a photographic plate.
-
CT Scan ~ CT stands
for computed tomography. The word tomography means an image of a slice. CT scans show ‘slices’ of the image on computer.
-
Ultrasound ~
Uses sound waves to image the body.
-
MRI ~ MRI stands for
magnetic resonance imaging. Magnetism and radio waves are used to
produce images which allow physicians to see deep into objects and
analyze their content.
-
Nuclear Medicine ~
A
miniscule amount of radioactive substance is swallowed or injected in a
vein. A special camera watches as the radiation exits the body. This
method helps show how well the body is working in addition to how it
looks.
